Alpental is a small ski area hidden from view and often missed. It's one of the most beautiful areas in the state of Washington. Fortunately the steep challenging terrain, weather and snow conditions are often so sketchy that beginners and intermediate skiers & riders usually avoid the place. The area is true "Backcountry" and "Out of Bounds". You feel as though you flew in on a private jet to your own resort midweek because often it's completely vacant. None of the backcountry is marked and it is and can be truly hazardous.
